Tawana Walter-Cadien was born December 25, 1972 in Beaumont, Texas to Terry L. Walter, Sr. and Virginia Webb Walter. Since her youth, Tawana has been active within her local community. She has lived in both Jefferson and Harris County. Tawana is a 1996 graduate of Prairie View A&M University where she received a Bachelor's of Science degree in nursing and is a Registered Nurse. During her college years she was very involved on campus including efforts to increase voter turnout and fundraising. Tawana has held as variety of titles including home health Director of Nurses, McGregor Medical Association Surgery Supervisor, Texas Health Steps and Pregnant Women and Infants Medical Case Manager, and Director of Quality Assurance, Professional Sales Representative, host of a children's educational segment entitled "Kids' Corner With Tawana" and RN Educator. Tawana has also earned an Executive Master's degree in Public Administration from Texas Southern University.
Tawana's passion for people and her community is apparent in the many aspects of her life. She is dedicated to and passionate about bringing awareness to others and empowering others to enhance themselves as well as their community. In 2010, Tawana was elected as Precinct Chair of Jefferson County Precinct 26. Tawana is public speaker for the Julie Rogers "Gift Of Life" program. She brings awareness about breast, prostate, and testicular cancer to a variety of organizations including high school senior boys and girls. Tawana is also the outreach coordinator for the W.I.S.E. Women program, a leg of the Julie Rogers "Gift Of Life".
Tawana is the wife of Mr. Kevin Cadien, a chemical engineer, and graduate of The University Of Texas. She is also the proud mother of two daughters.
Tawana is more than capable of representing the constituents of District 10 and looks forward to doing so with the same passion and dedication that she has exhibited throughout her entire life.
